About DAQ

DAQ is SEDS-RD’s first attempt at a SRAD (Student Researched and Developed) in-flight data recorder package.

The project as a whole has the purpose of introducing students to the process of making a functional data acquisition board from start to finish. The DAQ project is set to be aboard our Spaceport America Cup 2025 rocket.

Requirements

Record raw inertial, temperature and pressure data during flight
Provide three separate sets of kinematic data, from the lower, middle and upper airframe
Have a single-button scripting/visualization pipeline to plot all data from flash storage
Be able to be turned on/off on the pad without disassembly

Learning Objectives

PCB Design and component selection
Ground and in-flight testing
Post-processing and data visualization
Ability to contribute to more advanced embedded systems projects within the club
